Arrive at Ljubljana Airport, where a private transfer will meet you in arrivals and take you directly to your chosen Ljubljana hotel or pick up your hire car and drive to this fantastic city. The compact yet remarkable capital offers a quaint old town, hill-top castle and best of all a superb city atmosphere.
Spend your day exploring the rest of Ljubljana's famous landmarks, including the Cathedral of St Nicholas (Stolnica Sv. Nikolaja), the fascinating Dragon Bridge (Zmajski Most) and the historic Town Hall. Ljubljana sits on the Ljubljanica River, which weaves its way through the city including around the famous castle. Get to know more of the city from a different perspective with a river cruise.
Postojna Caves is one of the largest karst cave networks in the world, dating back two million years. With an incredible series of passages, chambers and galleries, visitors are left in awe at the sheer beauty of the natural formations. Just a few miles from Postojna Caves stands the 700 year old Predjama Castle. Sitting within a 123 metre cliff it was once a hideout for a rebellious baron, the subject of a romantic legend and is now home to a fascinating collection of weapons and paintings from the 15th century.
It's time to say goodbye to Ljubljana and take your transfer or hire car to Lake Bohinj. Settle in to your chosen hotel, relax and enjoy a meal at one of the nearby restaurants.Spend your first full day exploring this incredible area. Bohinj's enchanting forested mountains and alpine air make for wonderful walking and hiking routes, while the pristine water is ideal for water based activities such as swimming, kayaking and canoeing.
The next day take a day trip to Lake Bled. We strongly recommend you take a couple of hours to walk round the lake to appreciate it’s true beauty from every angle, which includes the surrounding mountains, cliff top castle, pine forests and of course the island. In the summer the lake water is warm and ideal for cooling off. Other ways you can enjoy the lake and its views include a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride that circles the lake or hiring a bicycle or kayak.
It's time to head for the coast. Your private transfer will take you to your chosen hotel in Portoroz or drive your hire car. Settle in, relax and enjoy the sea air.
Spend your day on foot exploring neighbouring Piran. This captivating historical town is the pearl of Slovenia's coast. Perched on a narrow peninsula, the well preserved Venetian Gothic architecture makes for a superb setting to explore and all within easy walking distance from Portoroz.
